Zakat Collections and Distribution
At Al Fajr Islamic Foundation, we proudly incorporate the essential Islamic practice of Zakat (alms-giving) into our array of services. Zakat, derived from the Arabic term meaning ‘to purify,’ is a fundamental pillar of Islamic faith and a mandatory duty for eligible Muslims once every Islamic lunar year.
This act of worship and charity holds profound significance as it serves to purify one’s wealth and build a divine connection with Allah SWT. Calculated at 2.5% of the excess wealth, Zakat is obligatory on financial assets that remain unused for living expenses. By fulfilling this sacred obligation, Muslims contribute to the well-being of the community, fostering a sense of unity and compassion.
Allah SWT says in The Holy Quran:
“Those who perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) and give zakat and they have faith in the Hereafter with certainty.”
(Surah Luqman, Chapter 31, verse 4)
At Al Fajr Islamic Foundation, we facilitate the proper calculation and distribution of Zakat, ensuring it reaches those in need and serves as a means of support for the less fortunate. Our commitment to Zakat reflects our dedication to upholding the principles of social justice and communal welfare embedded in the teachings of Islam.
Join us in the noble act of Zakat, as we strive to make a positive impact on the lives of others and purify our wealth in accordance with the divine principles of Islam.
