Zakat Collections and Distribution

Zakat Collections and Distribution

At Al Fajr Islamic Foundation, we proudly incorporate the essential Islamic practice of Zakat (alms-giving) into our array of services. Zakat, derived from the Arabic term meaning ‘to purify,’ is a fundamental pillar of Islamic faith and a mandatory duty for eligible Muslims once every Islamic lunar year.

This act of worship and charity holds profound significance as it serves to purify one’s wealth and build a divine connection with Allah SWT. Calculated at 2.5% of the excess wealth, Zakat is obligatory on financial assets that remain unused for living expenses. By fulfilling this sacred obligation, Muslims contribute to the well-being of the community, fostering a sense of unity and compassion.

Allah SWT says in The Holy Quran:

“Those who perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) and give zakat and they have faith in the Hereafter with certainty.”

(Surah Luqman, Chapter 31, verse 4)

At Al Fajr Islamic Foundation, we facilitate the proper calculation and distribution of Zakat, ensuring it reaches those in need and serves as a means of support for the less fortunate. Our commitment to Zakat reflects our dedication to upholding the principles of social justice and communal welfare embedded in the teachings of Islam.

Join us in the noble act of Zakat, as we strive to make a positive impact on the lives of others and purify our wealth in accordance with the divine principles of Islam.

Charity Work

At Al Fajr Islamic Foundation, we extend our commitment to humanitarian values through our dedicated charity initiatives. Our charitable works aim to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need, reflecting the principles of compassion and social responsibility inherent in Islamic teachings.

One facet of our charity efforts involves visiting prisons to provide nourishing meals to the incarcerated individuals. Additionally, we advocate for the rights and freedom of prisoners, striving to create awareness and support for their release. For those facing fines as an obstacle to their freedom, we actively raise funds to alleviate this burden, contributing to the restoration of their lives beyond incarceration.

Our charitable outreach also extends to the most vulnerable members of our society, including orphaned children and those out of school. Through various programs and initiatives, we strive to provide essential support and care for these young individuals, ensuring they have access to education, basic needs, and a nurturing environment.

At Al Fajr Islamic Foundation, we firmly believe in the transformative power of charity, and we are dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those facing adversity. Join us in our mission to spread compassion, advocate for justice, and uplift the marginalized within our communities.

Ramadan Iftar Program

Iftar is the traditional sundown meal that breaks the Ramadan fast observed by Muslims around the world in the month of fasting.

The event begins with a call to the Maghrib (evening) prayers by a local imam, followed by a prayer. Ramadan, the ninth month in the Muslim calendar, is a special time for the Muslim community. As a most blessed month, it is a time for reflection, prayer and renewal of faith.

Muslims worldwide fast from dawn to sunset, abstaining totally from food, drink, sexual pleasure, smoking and other sensual pleasures to complete one of the five pillars of Islam and to achieve greater self-discipline, self-purification, and compassion for those less fortunate. This fast is absolutely observed in Nigeria by the Muslim communities, however, some families do not have the means and provisions to afford Iftar meals; thence, this makes their Ramadan season very challenging. This lack and insufficiency has brought forth a lot of frustration among our Muslim brothers and sisters and deprived them the right of enjoying the dear faith of Islam.

During the month of fasting, Muslims are encouraged to be particularly charitable. Feeding people at the end of the fasting day represents a very rewarding spiritual act according to Islamic tradition and teachings. As the popular saying goes, “When the month of Ramadan arrives, the doors of mercy are opened”. This is why at Al Fajr Islamic Foundation, we are seeking partnership in form of financial support to distribute Iftar food in a program we have called “RAMADAN IFTAR FOOD DISTRIBUTION PROJECT”.

In Iftar Food Distribution Project, we do reach out with food to our needy brothers and sisters across the country, specifically the southwestern region which consists six state, namely, Lagos, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti and Ogun respectively. This region houses Forty million (40,000,000) Muslim residents as estimated of which majority faces food shortage and hunger mostly during the month of Ramadan.

Eid Sacrifice

At Al Fajr Islamic Foundation, our commitment to community welfare extends to the important tradition of Eid Sacrifice. This integral aspect of our program involves assisting those in the community with the means to perform sacrifices such as cows, rams, and other offerings during the auspicious occasion of Eid.

Our initiative focuses on promoting a sense of unity and solidarity within society, emphasizing the spirit of sharing and caring for the less privileged. We collaborate with individuals who have the capacity to make these sacrifices, facilitating the process to ensure that the blessings of Eid are extended to those who may be in need.

By engaging in Eid Sacrifice, we aim to foster a community where the joyous celebrations of Eid are shared with everyone, regardless of their economic circumstances. This thoughtful initiative not only adheres to the principles of Islamic generosity but also serves as a tangible expression of compassion and solidarity among community members.

Join us at Al Fajr Islamic Foundation in spreading the spirit of Eid Sacrifice, as we work together to create a more inclusive and caring society, where the blessings of festive occasions are truly shared with all.
